SAS Nagar, May 26, 2023:  To assess the on ground status of construction of PR 4 and extension of PR 7 roads, Mr. Rajiv Kumar Gupta, IAS, Chief Administrator, GMADA today visited the project sites. Observing that these roads are crucial to better the existing connectivity in the area, he directed the officials concerned to ensure that these works are completed in set timeline.

Pertinently, GMADA is constructing 8785 meter long and 200 feet wide stretch of existing PR 7 road starting from New Sunny Enclave and connecting to PR 4 road in New Chandigarh. Construction of this portion of the PR 7 road would provide direct connectivity to New Chandigarh town from the International Airport, Mohali and would ease out the traffic congestion in Chandigarh, as the travelers bound to New Chandigarh would take a direct route from the airport and would need not to enter Chandigarh. On enquiring about the progress of the work, the engineering wing apprised the Chief Administrator that around 87% work of the road has been finished and August 30 is the deadline for completion. To this, Mr. Gupta asked the officials to finish the work in time.

Next, the Chief Administrator inspected the work of widening and strengthening of PR 4 road and construction of three bridges in New Chandigarh. As this road is a vital link to improve connectivity to New Chandigarh and also leads to upcoming International Cricket Stadium, Mr. Gupta urged the officials to ensure that the construction work do not jump the set timeline. He also asked the officials to make sure that all the development projects are completed in stipulated period while also taking care that no sub-standard material is used in the construction.

During the visit, Mr. Gupta was accompanied by Mr. Balwinder Singh, Chief Engineer, Mr. Ajay Garg, Superintending Engineer and officials from civil, public health, electrical and horticulture divisions of engineering wing.
